START
Welcome, Giseok.
You're joining the AI team at Boncom. We are a small team with meaningful problems to solve and plenty of opportunities to build tools people will actually use.
This page covers the people, tools, projects, and routines that will help you get started. Skim it today. Come back to it all week.

1-1
Today
Your first day is focused on getting settled, meeting the team, and becoming familiar with how we work.
Today looks roughly like:
- Meet Rishi & Roger
- Get your laptop, accounts, and access sorted
- Meet the people nearby
- A walk through what our team builds
- Time for questions about the team, your role, or the work ahead
Since we sit near each other, feel free to ask questions as they come up.

Where you've landed
Boncom is a strategic marketing and consulting agency in Salt Lake City. We work on cause-oriented campaigns for organizations trying to change behavior for the better. Traditional and digital, strategy through production.
People at Boncom care about producing high-quality work that supports meaningful causes. Collaboration, curiosity, and thoughtful execution are important parts of the culture.
1-3
Your crew
- Rishi (me)
- AI Solutions Manager, and your mentor. I will help prioritize your work and support you with technical direction, code reviews, and blockers. For day-to-day project or technical questions, start with me.
- Roger
- Your manager. Hours, time off, the bigger picture of your role here.
For project and technical questions, reach out to me. Roger can help with broader role expectations, scheduling, time off, and other management topics.
Also good to know:
- Scott Waddell, CTO
- Justin Jones, works with Scott on the Labs team
Both work closely with us through Bonneville Communications, Boncom's parent organization.
Right now the AI team is me and Roger. That's it. Because the team is small, you will have meaningful ownership and your contributions will be visible across the organization.
A few recurring things
AI Office Hours. Every Tuesday, 2:00 to 3:00 PM, in the Kitchen.
Anyone in the agency can walk in with a problem and leave with a path forward. Join me from week one. Sit in, listen, and get a feel for how we help.
AI Show & Tell. First Wednesday of every month.
People from across the agency come share what they're doing with AI. Good place to see how others are using it, and to show your own work when you're ready.

People to meet
During your first two weeks, schedule a short introductory conversation with each of the following people.
Production team, first.
Your first project is for them. Meet to understand how their team works.
- Mari Raymer, Executive Producer, Director of Production
- Britte Sappington, Executive Producer, Director of Post Production
- Loren DeGraaff, Sr. Postproduction Coordinator
Wider agency, when you can.
- Riley, VP of Client Operations, Missionary Department
- Justin Schroepfer, Marketing Director, Web
These two will give you a sense of what the agency needs from us, which is the other half of this job.

Gear up
Get these installed and working. Use today to identify and resolve any installation or access issues.
For missing hardware, software, or account access, submit a request through the BCC Service Desk. Tod and Abbey are our IT support and they are amazing. Ask me if you're unsure which request type to use, or just raise a ticket and they'll take care of you.

The map
Boncom Suite is the hub for everything AI at Boncom. It's where every tool we've built lives, and it's the single fastest way to understand what this job produces.
Spend about 20 minutes reviewing the main projects and tools available in Boncom Suite:
- Live projects. Video Insight AI, Survey Coder, Estimate Builder, MD Monthly Creative Insights, Ad Manager, Video Compliance Checker, Deskbloom
- Plugins. TypeSmith for Figma, YouTube AI Comment Triage for Chrome
Your release form app will live here too.
Meet Deskbloom. ๐ธ Our to-do app at todo.boncomsuite.com. Finish tasks, watch your virtual plant grow. It's a fun little example of the kind of thing we build here. Curious? Try it for your own to-dos.
Synaptic, at app.dmccore.ai, is our in-house platform for AI agents, built by DMC. This is where most of the agency's day-to-day AI work happens.
- Synaptic Claude opens by default
- Switch agents from the model dropdown, top left
- DMC Tuned Agents are open to everyone: Claude, Claude Tech, Grok, Gemini, ChatGPT, plus image generation
- Shared Agents are the custom ones built for Boncom: Contract Reviewer, Paid Search Creative Assistant, AI Hook Analyzer, Web Researcher, Webpage Content Idea Generator, Video Metadata Assistant
Access to the Boncom agents is granted per person. Message Rishi on Teams.
Explore the Boncom-specific agents to understand how we design specialized AI experiences for different workflows. They provide useful examples of how prompts, instructions, tools, and workflow design can be packaged into a repeatable internal product.
Monday Dev is where work lives. Boncom Suite workspace
- Tasks. Backlog, active sprint, kanban. Your day to day.
- Epics, AI Solutions. The bigger picture, grouped by quarter and tracked from Idea through Scoping, In Development, Shipped. Your release form app is here.
- Bugs Queue. Incoming, in progress, resolved. A good hunting ground when you want something small and real.
- Sprints, Retrospectives, Getting Started.

Week one: get your hands dirty
Nothing is due this week. The goal for your first week is to become comfortable with the core tools, repositories, and development workflow.
GitHub. Start with this tutorial. Focus on understanding the purpose of each step in the Git workflow, including branching, commits, pull requests, reviews, and merges. Then go read other people's code, ours and public repos. Reading and understanding existing code will be an important part of your work.
Cursor. Get comfortable in it. I'll be happy to take you through how it works.
Boncom AI Skills. github.com/BONCOM/boncom-ai-skills
These are the Claude and Cursor skills we use internally. A skill is a reusable set of instructions the AI follows for a specific kind of work, so it codes the way we do, with our conventions and tools baked in. They help us move faster and write better code without re-explaining the same context every time. Install them and try a few.

The human stuff
When you're stuck, come find me (or Roger). No question is too small. Seriously. The only dumb move is staring at the same error for an hour when one of us is two desks away. Ping either of us anytime. If I'm mid-something, I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Snacks, lunch, whatever you need. Walk over to the Kitchen on the north side anytime. It's fully stocked. Grab a snack, make lunch, help yourself. Same room as Office Hours, and catering shows up sometimes too.
Tools and support. Need gear, software, access, or IT help? Ask me, or raise a ticket with IT. Tod and Abbey have your back.
Talk to people. Ask what they're working on. Boncom supports a wide range of cause-oriented organizations, and talking with colleagues is one of the best ways to understand the agency's work and identify future opportunities.
3-3
Your first build: Talent Release Capture
Anyone who appears on camera needs a signed talent release. Right now production prints forms, gets them signed by hand, scans them into Dropbox, then takes a separate photo of every person holding their form so someone can later match faces to names. On a busy UGC shoot that can mean dozens of people, and the church client audits these releases after delivery. Miss a match and it's a real compliance problem.
We're building an iPad app so that goes away. Add a person, capture their photo, they sign on screen with an Apple Pencil, pick English or Spanish, and everything saves already linked to the project. Back at the office, a simple desktop view lets you search by name or project instead of digging through Dropbox. No more manual photo labeling.
Still in scoping, so nothing is locked. Grab me when you're ready and we'll go deeper on the brief, v1 scope, and how you'll plug in. On the board as the "Video release iOS app" epic.
BOSS
Squadron
We built a game called Boncom Squadron. It's an internal game with a live leaderboard, and it's a fun way to meet people and take part in a little friendly competition.
